Warm without Power Supply Made-in-Japan Poka Poka Pad

[Highly insulated material, no fear of low-temperature burns!]
Poka Poka is an onomatopoeic word for warmth in Japanese. The “Poka Poka Pad” incorporates such a word in its product name and is made from a highly insulating material that prevents cold energy from below and keeps your body heat from above. As it does not get warmer than body temperature and there is no risk of low-temperature burns, this item is recommended for small children and the elderly.

See the video at the top of the section. On the left is the product Poka Poka Pad (approx. 4 cm thick) and on the right is the urethane foam (approx. 4 cm thick). Each was placed on ice and sat on, and we compared the temperature change after 5 minutes. The temperature of the buttocks indicated by the cross marks is higher on the Poka Poka Pad, which prevents cold energy from the ice. As the "Poka Poka Pad" cushioning is low, we recommend using a blanket, futon or sleeping bag over the product in combination with the "Poka Poka Pad". Place the "Poka Poka Pad" under a cushion or futon and enjoy the comfortable warmth.

[Eco-friendly item with no electricity bill]
If you could reduce the time spent using the heating system by one hour a day, the following energy savings (per year) would be achieved.
If the set temperature for heating is 20°C, 40.73 kWh of electricity, 10.26 litres of crude oil and 16.8 kg of CO2 reduction. (*Calculated using an emission factor of 0.413 kg-CO2/kWh for electricity.)

[Refreshing humidity control and deodorant function]
When used for long periods, the heat causes sweat, which can lead to the skin becoming stuffy. The silica gel sheet inside removes moisture when the humidity is high and releases moisture when it is too dry, adjusting the humidity to the optimum level. The structure is designed to prevent steaming. To further utilise this effect, a highly breathable and quick-drying double raschel fabric is used for the seat surface, which aids humidity regulation.
See the graphical images at the bottom of the section regarding moisture absorption. Starting at an initial humidity of 90% RH, the relative humidity without silica gel sheets was approximately 80%, but with silica gel sheets, the relative humidity drops to around 40% after 120 minutes.

Silica gel sheets also have a deodorising effect. It absorbs ammonia, a component of sweat and body odour, isovaleric acid, the source of foot odour, and nonenal, one of the substances responsible for age-related odours and moisture.
See the images at the bottom of the section for a graph of the deodorising properties. In tests, the percentage reduction of odour components after two hours showed that It reduced sweat odour to 10%, foot odour to 1% and age-related odour to 1%.
