About the product
We have created an ultra-compact, thin, light, and soft mini wallet that fits in the palm of your hand and is the perfect size for a cashless lifestyle. It is a size that does not get in the way of a smartphone payment lifestyle, yet it can hold 36 coins + 5 cards in case of emergencies.
We are ethically consuming almost discarded skins as leather by making effective use of exterminated deerskins. Also, this is a Made in Japan product, processed in Japan from the hunter to the craftsman, in pursuit of quality. We recommend this product as a present for the environmentally conscious and sustainability-conscious. The product is delivered wrapped in a Japanese Tenugui, a traditional hand towel.
We focused on the point of "compact and ample". The size is small enough to be completely hidden in the iPhone mini series. It is 7.4 mm thick, so there is no feeling that your pocket is bulging, that something is in it, or that it is heavy. It is small enough to go out empty-handed. On the other hand, capacity is also important. Even if your daily payments are cashless, there are unexpected situations where you need coins, such as in parking lots or in emergencies. In such cases, you can compactly store coins and credit cards. Of course, bills can also be folded.
The material, deerskin, has been popular in Japan for a long time. It is an excellent leather with excellent water resistance, breathability, and even heat retention properties. In the past, it was used for samurai armors but, with the trend toward mass production, the use of deerskin leather has been declining. However, we have chosen to use thin, light, and soft deerskin leather because we believe it is ideal for wallets that you hold in your hand. This deerskin is vegetable tanned without using minerals and is an environmentally recyclable material. The lining is made of raised pigskin, which does not spoil the softness of the deer skin on the surface. The characteristic of "deerskin + vegetable tanning" is its ability to change over time. If you touch and use it daily, it will deepen and become your own color in a year! It is easy to care for, just wipe with a dry cloth when it gets dirty.
The opening is a Gamaguchi (traditional Japanese metal clasp). It opens quickly and wide. You can easily see what is inside, so when you need coins, you won't be bothered by the hassle! And there is no protrusion, which is a characteristic of a Gamaguchi. It is easy to put in and out of the pocket and does not get in the way. Furthermore, this Gamaguchi is made of brass. It is strong and rust-resistant.
The mini wallets are made of deer skins, exterminated as vermin in Hokkaido. Wild birds and beasts devour crops and cause damage to people and property, and are a serious problem throughout Japan. While the meat is now used for wild game meal dishes and pet food, most of the hides are being discarded. Deerskin has been used in Japan for a long time because of its excellent moisture absorption, breathability, and heat retention properties. Can't we somehow make effective use of it on an ongoing basis? With this in mind, a project to create products utilizing deerskin was launched. We make use of the skin of live deer in the wild that have been exterminated from animal damage. In order to make effective use of deer skin, there may be small scratches on the product that do not affect its use, but we hope you will understand our wishes.

About the maker
I am Mizoguchi from Sensi Simple Japan. After working for a trading company in charge of the introduction and marketing of foreign brands, I was contracted by a Taiwanese company that develops and produces most of the world's leading footwear brands to plan, strategize, and market the brands for Japan.
I was uncomfortable with the fact that leather, which should have some individual differences, would become defective because it did not conform to "quality standards.” When I was researching the distribution and current status of leather, I heard about the current situation of wild deer extermination and disposal, and based on my past experience, I planned to create this product in the hope that I could solve the problem in an ongoing basis. I consulted with many craftsmen and people involved in leather, and formed the "Deer One Team" with those who agreed with me, and plan to create products that fit the new lifestyle of the future. Our goal is to turn the exterminated deer leather into products that can be used for a long time, and to continue to do so as a coordinated team.
Hunters in Nakashibetsu-town, Hokkaido, kill the deer in one shot without causing it any pain or unnecessary injury to its body, and even consider where it will fall. The deer is then quickly processed to minimize spoilage and flown to a well-established tannery in Tokyo. This tannery tanning pigskin for the world's premium brands, using natural and environmentally friendly dyes without environmentally damaging minerals.
The company responsible for manufacturing the wallets is Azumaya Ltd. located in Ryogoku, Tokyo. The company uses the techniques it has cultivated over its more than 100-year history to create wallets that take full advantage of the softness and lightness of deerskin leather.
Since our first priority is to make products that people will use as a team, we have not yet decided on a brand name, nor have we created a brand logo. We are looking for people who can work together with us in product planning, development, and sales.
