The 'KOINU' bowl series has a flat edge. The edges of bowls and colander are usually 'rolled', but the 'KOINU' Series is not rolled, making it easier to wash and more hygienic as water and debris are less likely to accumulate.

Not only is it hygienic. The wide rim also makes it easy to hold with one hand. You will find it comfortable to use, for example, when stirring eggs or beating cream.

The benefit of the flat edge is that you can pour delicately without overhanging the sides, and the bowl has a sharp, liquid-crisp spout. This reliable spout prevents dripping, even with viscous liquids such as eggs.

You might think that the edges of the bowls might hurt your fingers, but the material used is 30% thicker than normal rimmed bowls, which improves durability and softens the tactile sensation. In addition, the edges of each bowl are individually polished so that they feel soft to the touch. The thorough attention to detail of the 'KOINU' can be seen even in these small details. (Normal thickness is 0.5-0.6 mm, while flat edges are 0.8 mm.)

Look inside the bowls and you will see shiny surfaces. This is because it is further finished by electrolytic polishing after hairline polishing. With conventional bowls, when whipping cream, the whipper and bowl rub against each other, and a tiny amount of stainless steel peels off, discolouring the cream. Electropolishing has been applied to smooth the surface to prevent such discolouration. The press-worked scale also makes it convenient to prepare ingredients. If strict measuring is not required for a dish, you don't even need to use a measuring cup!

There is a calculated "height difference" between the bowl and the mesh bowl, creating a gap when stacked on top of each other. This makes it easy to insert a finger into the bowl and lift it up quickly, even when stacked on top of each other. Furthermore, thanks to this difference in height, food that floats easily in water will not run out with the water, even when placed in running water. Cooks will love this freedom from hassle.

The tray, which fits perfectly into bowls and mesh bowls, is simple but versatile. This also works well as a lid to keep food from running out when draining, shaking the colander or tilting the bowl. Mesh bowls made of woven wire. The main difference between this and a perforated colander (the type with holes) is that it is also very watertight. It catches even small items such as rice and drains it comfortably.

The mesh bowl starts out flat. From a single large piece of mesh material rolled into a roll, it is individually die-cut. To achieve the product's unparalleled shape and durability, many prototypes had to be repeated. For example, it was technically difficult to shape a sturdy mesh with a thick wire diameter into a deep bowl shape like this one. We were able to make it after many meetings and persistent trial and error.

"Colanders", made of stainless steel, seem sturdy, but they are actually surprisingly fragile tools. Have you ever experienced the netting tearing, warping, and legs coming off...?

The mesh bowls of the 'KOINU' are made of wire with a wire diameter of 0.57 mm, which is thicker than that of ordinary colanders, for extraordinary strength. The professional specification of this product, which is resistant to tearing and deformation, means that it can be used for many years, even if it is used hard every day.

21 cm and 15 cm are an easy-to-use size combination for a wide range of uses.
The 21 cm is ideal for washing bulky leafy vegetables; it is also spill-proof for washing 3 or more cups of rice and is just the right size for kneading dough. In contrast, the smaller 15 cm is very convenient for washing small vegetables such as small tomatoes and other small items. With these two sizes, you can do almost anything.

Generally, bowls and colanders inevitably become bulky when they come in various sizes.
On the other hand, these 21 cm and 15 cm size sets can be nested together as a whole. If you put a 15 cm three-piece set inside a stack of 21 cm bowls and mesh bowls, you can completely cover them with a tray. When stored on a shelf, they are easy to take out and do not create wasted space.
