All-Weather Tabi Shoes - U-ten

Comfortable to wear in all situations, rain or sun, in town or outdoors is the all-weather Tabi Shoes: "U-ten". By combining functional fabrics with the non-slip, easy-to-tread, and compact carrying characteristics of Tabi shoes, we have achieved a shoe that can be worn anywhere and anytime. We also deliver Tabi socks with separate toes as well as Tabi shoes, so even first-time wearers can wear Tabi shoes from the day you receive them!

[Waterproof, Water-repellent, and Breathable]
Excellent fabric with waterproof and water-repellent properties and, a certain amount of moisture permeability is used for the outer fabric. They are easy to care for and resistant to dirt as well as water droplets, so they are recommended for outdoor activities such as hiking and camping.

[Strong grip & Compactness]
The split-toe structure is unique to Tabi Shoes (Jikatabi) and the soft rubber sole used in these shoes helps walking using the entire sole from heel to toe. In addition to stabilising the foot and body balance, gripping the ground with the fingertips makes it easier to stand on slippery surfaces. They are also convenient for storage as they fold up to a compact 6 cm in thickness, which can be useful as a second pair of shoes when travelling. Another important feature is the "kohaze" fastening: thanks to the two-stage lacing thread, the tightness can be adjusted and the style can be changed depending on how it is fastened.

[Sustainable materials]
The nylon fabric used for the lining is made from 58% recycled nylon staple fibres called CEBONNER, created by Toray using its proprietary spinning technology from textile scraps and other materials. It is lightweight and abrasion-resistant, making it the ideal fabric for areas in contact with the feet. We also hope that the use of recycled nylon yarn, which Toray is working on as an environmentally friendly next-generation material, will help to reduce the burden on consumer society. [Comfortable fit]
These Tabi shoes are wider than our previous products and have flat soles with no arch. While they are comfortable to wear, some people may want a better fit. This is why we offer cup insoles for Tabi shoes. This was made possible with the cooperation of Marugo, a long-established Tabi Shoes (Jikatabi) manufacturer. The flat insoles originally come with cup insoles, which can be replaced or stacked to adjust the comfort level to suit the wearer's own needs.

“U-ten" is produced in cooperation with a factory specialising in Tabi shoes, one of only a few remaining in Japan. A number of processes are painstakingly completed by skilled craftsmen. There are a number of challenges in passing on tradition and technology, and 'demand' is one of them. In order to continue to be needed, demand is created by adding designs and new functionality to the functionality of Tabi shoes to suit modern lifestyles. We also hope to pass on the good qualities of Tabi, which some people say to have been handed down in Japan for more than 1000 years, and to preserve them for the next generation.
