About the product
Cashless people do not usually use cash, so they may feel their existing wallets are too much. Nevertheless, cashless payments cannot be used during electric power outages, etc., so a minimum amount of cash is necessary... We would like to propose this ultra-compact emergency wallet to cashless people in preparation for such situations.[User-friendly design]
The design was pursued to achieve both compactness and ease of use. This wallet, which at first glance does not look like a wallet, is 5-folded, making the main body size very compact at 100mm in length and 37mm in width. When opened, the wallet is held vertically. The coin case side holds the bills securely, while the other side is designed with a double flap shape that makes it easy to flip over the bills and prevents them from popping out. Holding the wallet vertically, you can count the bills from the flap, flip it over, and then put it back in the flap again. This series of actions is designed to be performed smoothly. [Ultimate smallness]
Since this is the ultimate small wallet, the coin case design was the most difficult part of the project. If it is too small, it will exceed the capacity when the change received is too large. With a combination of coins of various denominations, we aimed for a design that would hold 7 to 9 bills and about 10 more coins in total. The snap button on the flap of the coin case was eliminated, and the flap was placed inside the case to reduce the thickness of the snap button. In addition, the pit-tanned leather from Himeji is processed to be very thin (0.8mm). Although thinner leather is less strong, we used the part of the leather that is stable from the back to the buttocks, where the fibres are packed. Originally, this pit-tanned leather is tenacious and does not weaken easily because the tannin is slowly absorbed into the leather over time without moving the leather much, which is why the 0.8mm thickness was achieved. [Leather with particular care]
The leather used for this product is from Himeji, the centre of Japan's leather industry. The leather is tanned by a method called pit tanning. Pit tanning is a leather manufacturing method in which tannin, an astringent plant substance, is used and the leather is slowly tanned over time. Leather produced using only vegetable tannin and no chemical ingredients is very expensive, but it is called full tannin leather or full vegetable tannin leather, and is loved by many people around the world for its beautiful appearance over time. Today, tanneries that use this manufacturing method are extremely rare, but there are still such tanneries in Japan. In addition, the leather is dyed using the aniline dyeing method. Instead of putting pigment on the surface, the dye penetrates the leather, resulting in a very deep finish. Since the surface of the leather is not covered, the original expression of the leather remains. Therefore, some scratches and wrinkles may remain on some parts of the leather. These include healed wounds, insect scars, neck wrinkles, and blood vessel marks. Of course, we have tried to avoid large and conspicuous areas, but please understand that this is a characteristic of the leather and use it as such.
Two types are available: a carabiner type for attaching to bags and backpacks, and a keyring type for attaching keys. Both types can be detached from the metal fittings, making them even lighter and more compact. (*When removing the double ring, please remove it carefully so as not to damage the leather.) The carabiner is especially popular because it utilises our metalworking technology, which is our core business. We would be happy if you could choose the type that fits your lifestyle and use it with love.

About the maker
We, UNAIMETAL INDUSTRY CO, LTD., are a metalworking company that has been in business for more than 80 years. We have been engaged in various metal processing as our main business, and we have also been involved in manufacturing buckles and belt bodies for leather belts. Utilizing the skills cultivated in this business, the company has recently launched the brand "clife" to produce goods to be worn.
At clife, we do all the planning, designing, prototyping, and manufacturing by ourselves, with the motto of creating unique products. By integrating the entire process from design to production, we can immediately feed back know-how and problems encountered during production to the design process, allowing us to repeatedly brush up on prototypes, resulting in products with a high degree of perfection.
This product was created to give consumers more options as they shift to a cashless lifestyle. If cashless payment is so widespread, we can live without touching cash in everyday life. Still, if there is a power outage or communication failure, cashless payment will immediately become unusable. In the event of a sudden disaster, cash must be carried on one's person. If you are thinking about how to reorganize your current belongings, we propose the idea of storing only cash separately and keeping it close at hand.
