Craftsman's technique that realized "silver wire x lacquer ring"

"Silver wire x lacquer ring" was created by Wataru Sato, a traditional craftsman of lacquer work, and Fusao Sato, a craftsman of Akita silver wire. Fusao Sato, who has not only silver wire work but also forging and carving techniques, manufactures silver rings from forging.

The base of the ring is completed, such as the dimensions, the luster of silver, and the size of the arabesque work (with the silver wire embedded in the ring frame). Since it is an item whose impression changes drastically just by changing the overall width by a few millimeters, I repeated fine adjustments many times.

Wataru Sato, a lacquer artist, painted lacquer on the finished base. Since lacquer is originally used as an adhesive or paint for materials made by applying lacquer to wood, it has the property of not adhering firmly to different materials such as metal.

The "silver wire x lacquer ring" uses a special lacquer that adheres to metal and glass, and uses a "multi-layer coating" technology that makes it difficult to peel off by applying multiple layers. "Multi-layer painting" is a technique realized by Wataru Sato over 7 years, and is a technique of a craftsman who is extremely rare in Japan.
