Many of you may have heard of origami, the traditional Japanese art of paper folding. This ‘SAWARIGAMI’ is a new concept of origami, a fusion of new technology and tradition, created by a Japanese printing company using its own special printing technology!

[Touch and feel the pattern]
Conventional origami is generally enjoyed for its visual differences in colour and pattern. On the other hand, this origami uses a special printing technique to give the surface of the paper a rough, uneven surface that feels different to the touch. The use of a special transparent varnish makes it look at first glance like pure white origami but, depending on the light, an elegant Japanese pattern emerges. SAWARIGAMI is a combination of the Japanese word for touch (sawaru) and the Japanese word for paper (kami), and it is truly an origami that can be touched and enjoyed!

Many traditional Japanese patterns have origins and meanings. This time SAWARIGAMI uses 15 patterns. The set includes package content that allows you to enjoy all 15 patterns. The patterns are all heart-warming and thoughtful, so they are recommended for festive meals, home parties, and other glamorous occasions.

-Package 01 (SEI): a collection of 5 patterns with thoughts of repelling evil and warding off evil spirits.
-Package 02 (JU): a collection of 5 patterns with thoughts of longevity and prosperity.
-Package 03 (EI): a collection of 5 patterns with thoughts of long-lasting happiness and peace.

You can find various folding techniques by searching for 'How to Origami' on video websites, etc. If you cut it into four equal pieces and stack two pieces 45 degrees apart, you can use it as a slightly more glamorous coaster. You can also use it to wrap small gifts or fold ornaments for Christmas and other occasions.

The printing processing technology used for SAWARIGAMI is unique and registered as a design in Japan. It is a new technology that overcomes the problems of conventional embossing, such as the cost of the dies used for processing and the occurrence of dents, wrinkles and shrinkage in the paper. We would be happy if the origami 'SAWARIGAMI', which was created by a printing company established more than 40 years ago in collaboration with a designer, could make the scenes of people's lives overseas more colourful.
