About the Product
Developed by a Japanese bedding manufacturer that has a 70-year history, this extra-long, soft gauze blanket is up to 260 cm* in length and can wrap you completely from your toes to your head. You will be enchanted by the comfortable touch of gauze finished by the traditional Japanese manufacturing method. (*Length can be selected)
It is said that it is easier to get a good night's sleep when you are wrapped from your toes to your head. It prevents the feet from getting cold, which is considered one of the causes of difficulty in getting a good night's sleep. Also, when the head is wrapped, it is cut off from the outside world and one feels calm. People remember memories of when they were in their mother's womb, and this similar sensation can help them fall asleep comfortably.
What we have focused on is the softness of being wrapped in. This is something we have pursued throughout our 70-year history, and it is so important for "better sleep," that many of our past customers have told us that they want to be wrapped in it all the time. This is made possible by the traditional Japanese gauze manufacturing method called "wa-sarashi," a process that removes impurities from the cotton. Unlike the common western method, which takes about 40 minutes to finish, this process involves soaking in natural water for 4 days to avoid stressing the fibers, resulting in a soft and fluffy finish without destroying the roundness of the fibers. In addition, a softening process using naturally derived oil and a two-step process of kneading the fabric are used to produce gauze that is soft enough to be wrapped in a futon.
This gauze blanket uses a four-layered gauze structure to contain air. The weaving method is different for each fabric, and the inner fabric is coarsely woven with thicker threads to contain plenty of air, resulting in a gauze blanket with a fluffy feel and moderate warmth, while also achieving a light weight in pursuit of comfort. Gauze is a highly absorbent and breathable material that is also used in the medical field. This gauze blanket is made of 4 layers of such gauze fabric. Even when your body is wrapped in gauze, moisture escapes and it does not become damp. In summer, it absorbs perspiration, and in spring and fall, it can be used inside a futon or mattress to reduce dampness and lead you to a comfortable, dry sleep. It is machine washable at home, so you can keep it clean, and the more you wash it, the softer and fluffier it becomes, and the more comfortable it becomes on your skin.
As well as the standard Japanese length of "200 cm (79”)," longer "230 cm (90.5”)" and extra long "260 cm (102”)" are also available. The 260 cm type can be used by people as tall as 190 cm (6’3”), and can also be turned horizontally so that the whole family can wear it together on the sofa. Five colors are available: sky blue (sorairo), cherry blossoms (sakura/pink), indigo (aiiro), gray (haiiro), and brown (kogecha). Find your favorite to match your interior!

About the Maker
We, KOHDAI Co., Ltd., are a long-established bedding manufacturer located in Gamagori City, Aichi Prefecture, founded 70 years ago. The Mikawa region, where Gamagori City is located, is one of Japan's leading textile production centers, having prospered in cotton textiles since the Edo period (the 1600s - 1860s). The "Mikawa cotton" produced here is a highly functional and comfortable material that is skillfully woven on a traditional Jacquard loom, and we use this Mikawa cotton to produce multiple-layer gauze.
As part of our mission as a bedding manufacturer, we established the Omotenashi Nemuri Kenkyujo (Omotenashi Sleep Laboratory) to provide a better sleep experience. We have qualifications related to sleep, bedding, and textiles, including a Sleep environment & Bedding goods instructor, a sleep improvement instructor, and a Textiles Evaluation Specialist (TES), and we are working on proposals and product planning for our customers.
This gauze blanket was also created as part of this effort. The idea of a "gauze blanket that completely wraps you" was inspired by customer feedback, and as a professional, we considered the elements necessary for a comfortable sleep and realized this idea. We would be happy if a comfortable sleep becomes a time to heal you.
